Every scaffold project undertaken is a little different from the last. Every alternate year Marlborough hosts the renowned Classic Fighters Air Show at Omaka Airfield. In 2009 the Air Show had an Italian theme.
Omaka is surrounded by rolling hills. To add a touch of realism to the air show and the air battles it was decided to build a tribute to Monte Cassino, the historic hill top abbey.
Scaffold Marlborough was approached to build the shell for the Monte Cassino. Over three days 40 tonnes of scaffolding was transported up the hill behind the airfield for construction.
Wind! - and then it started to blow!! Let's just say this project was a bit of a mission!
The air show organisers and the public were delighted with the end result, so all the effort was worth it.
